Stroking H22A to 2.3L

1080 Views 13 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  93si4ws
Would I be safe in assuming that by keeping the bore on the H22A at 87mm, increasing the stroke to 95mm, reducing the rod length to 141.5mm and leaving the crankshaft OE that the motor would now be at 2.3L. If I am wrong please tell me how to stroke the engine to 2.3L without changing the bore. Thanks.

If you are going to that amount of trouble just get a H23 block and mate the H22 head to it and save yourself the work.

Actually he would be better off doing what he said to keep him from have'n to get all the oil lines and block drilled in order to do this swap. What I don't get is why you would want to do this in the first place. If you want to go all motor then this would reduce your compression which is one thing you don't want to do. And if you were wanting to turbo it you'd be better off going with an H23 b/c of it's low end torque, as well as the VTEC head just being wasted with a turbo. Just a thought... I'd like to know what your plans are and reasoning for doing this b/c there are much better options. For instance if you want to go serious turbo go with a stroked H23 for many reasons, longer stroke to begin with, larger bore, no need for a VTEC head so why waste the extra cash buying one, and larger displacement which will let you boost alot more PSI.

Just a thought

My plans for the car is to set it up as a touring/Autobahn type ride. As for the motor, after stroking it to 2.3L I will be chaging the pistons to keep the compression at around 9.0:1. This is because I plan to bolt-on a JRSC and about a 75HP shot of NOS.

Hmmmmm that definately is origional to do all of that. But I guess if you still want the VTEC high end then that's a good plan. Good luck and stick with the H22 head and block.

Is moding the H23 block for the H22 head as difficult as every says?
Does anyone have some specs to look at or read about what holes need to be drilled?

This info would greatly help me!

Thanks

Yes it is. And since it sounds like you don't have extensive knowledge about it I wouldn't even think of trying it. You will need to drill a hole in the H23 block that runs all the way down to the oil pan as well as another oil line for the vtec head to function properly. You are better off just chose'n one or the other and picking all motor or forced induction. But hey if you want to try it more power to you.

You need to drill a hole from the head to the oil resevoir in order to get oil pressure to the head. Big pain in the ass.

so where exactly is this hole needed that you speak of? did you do this build or is this second hand information? this is the first i've heard of it. there is only an orifice block that needs to be removed from a 2.3 block's deck. and there are no external/extra lines needed to be run.

This is second hand info but if you do a search it's been said on here more than once.

and it sounds like i dont have the knowledge....

maybe the hole that has already been drilled is the one from your brain out to your ass. maybe that is where you pulled your info from dick!
The whole purpose of this forum is to ask questions, get advice, a decide for your self if its valid.
Not to get slamed because i asked a fucking question!
oh yeah

noticed one of your big mods is NGK plugs

you must be so proud of your extensive knowledge and experience
there's really no need for any of this. samd you're just as wrong if not more for coming out like that.

whitesi. can't believe everything you read. even if its written more than once by more than one person.
