Subs...

Ok guys, here's the deal: I have a del Sol and i recently purchased a custom enclosure that holds 2 10" subs behind my seats. It has approximately 1.2 cu feet of airspace for each sub. I know of many good sub manufacturers (I.E. Rockford, Eclipse, Infinity, etc.). But what i actually want is a 10" sub that performs well with my airspace. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Which JL's in particular? Keep in mind i like tight bass (I listen to a lot of Rap).
Get the 2x 10"JL W3's, they're great subs and they hit really tight.

yeah, those kick ass. i know a dude w/ em and they sound really clean.
I think you should look into digital designs!!! These subs are amazing

www.ddaudio.com

If your looking to buy 1 sub, look into a 3512 or 3510! Or if you have some cash look at there 9512s!!!!

They are one of the best company, if your sub ever breaks, you blow a coil, or you just want your sub to be new again, you ship it to them, and they will pretty much gut your sub, and make it new again! What other company does that????

they do that for free?
Some IDQ's would also be a good choice, very very nice and clean subs.
if u want tighter bass u should also be aware of the BOX enclosures... most likely u would want the sealed boxes..
emer82o has a good point. you need a good box or else your subs, no matter how good, will sound like crap. I had ported, but after getting a sealed, there is no comparison
actually ported boxes can have very good sq! If you build you ported box right it can sound just as good if not better then a sealed box if tuned properly!
94Honda...I second your opinion. Unfortunately for my bank account I'm an audiophile, and you are right on the money. installation is the MAIN part of the quality. You can take the greatest sub or mid/high and make it sound like crap if the install is poorly done. I have seen and heard too many people complaining about their high-dollar speakers sounding like arse.
im not saying one box is BETTER than another, just that it is personal preference. I hav heard some great ported boxes and crappy sealed boxes. Everything depends on what car u hav, subs and the all mighty $$$$
Whoa!!! I just checked out the digial designs webpage and those look like some serious subs!!! But the price is way too steep for me. I need some subs that'll run me about 300 (maybe a little more) bucks a pair. And i definately plan on getting this stuff professionally installed.
dude... most of the time the manufacter gives good specs to all your box applications for the sub.. whether u want it ported, sealed, bandpass, etc... they give u the dimensions and everything so it can sound like how the sub suppose to sound.. and the info given by them should be up to par on SQ and SPL...
All said and done though, I still think sealed is better than ported for SQ. A well designed sealed, versus a well designed ported will more than likely produce better SQ. Just my 2 cents, I've only been through a million different enclosures, but still tinkering, lol.
didnt u agree w/ 94 accord that ported boxes were better for SQ..?
and for you FASTSHADOW... if u want to spend around $300 for 2 subs then go rite ahead w/ the W3's from JL ... they are good subs.. also like someone said earlier the Image Dynamics IDQ subs are nice also...
I said I think SEALED is better than ported for SQ.

Almost any sub you can get will be good in that amount of airspace.. most 10s need .6 cu ft. a piece and two would need 1.2 cu ft. You really aren't limited by much.
I highly recommend Audiobahn subs....go to www.thezeb.com and click on audiobahn....they have the european models on sale for $69.99 for a 10" and $99.99 for 12".....my friend bought a 15"......him and I just finished installing it yesterday. Alls I have to say is WOW! The sub pounds so hard!
