tsup guys? i dont normally post being i can find what i need to know by searching around through all of your previous posts, but im in need of some help at this point. i have a 5th gen ex 5sp, pretty much bone stock at this point (3rd gen gsr intake, skunk2 coilovers, clear corners, enkei rp01's). i was planning on a b18c1 swap but i am extremely low on funds and need a new trans anyway. my ? is, should i continue searching for a reasonable swap... or go ahead and get the trans replaced, engine sleeved, and strap on a turbo to try and save some $$ in the short-term? any help or comments are greatly appreciated!

hmmmm... always a toughie. I would recommend w/ going w/ a swap. But if ur on a budget, i would say choose an LS non-VTEC as ur choice. i believe its gonna be cheaper than a B18c or B16... but if u are going to go the turbo route later, then this swap is perfect for it , as it can hang w/ a B18c then. But if ur not gonna go turbo, i WOULD NOT RECOMMEND it.

so bottom line, i would sway SWAP...my honest opinion. U'll get more power from it, and u'll be happier later in the future too.
Turbo

oh shit wrong thread:eek:
i say if your on a budget, just save and save for what you really want to do, that way by the time you get all the money saved up, you would have had plenty of time to think if thats what you really want...

i don't think you would be saving money, by the time you buy a turbo, have your engine sleeved, and replace the transmission, you could have just went with a swap.

well a lot of places will sell the tranny WITH the engine ;)

i say save up man. don't make any rash decisions JUST because of your budget or you're not gonna be happy with it in the long run....

i say save up for what you REALLY want....

thanks for your input guys! all this gets really discouraging when you have financial setbacks! haha. I suppose i will just continue to save, maybe ill get to the point where i do both!
i hear you on the financial setbacks. i don't think i'll be able to get anything for my civic in damn near a whole year (or probably more if things don't pick up). . . what i'm aiming for is a swap first, then turboing... sure, you can turbo your d16, put good numbers down and be happy with it, but sooner or later you're going to want more (it's an addiction, isn't it?). . . swapping your engine gives you the alternative to add on to that new powerplant through forced induction. . . but it's going to be a long hard and expensive road. . . i know i won't be seeing results in my car for a long long time :(
