As far as I know that LS/VTEC Frankenstein type job won't work with the F22 bottomend/H22 topend. (assuming you're referring to the H22A VTEC) If you meant the F22B1 or F23A1 VTEC, you're better off just doing a complete swap; but if you can swing it, swap in the H22A.
yes its possible to put an h22 head on an f22 block...but there is not any good reason i can think of, cause it will cost so damn much....just go buy an h22 and put it in....or you can get a newer f22 with vtec for pretty damn cheap and bolt it in as well.
if you can find someone that jsut did a swap and has a 94 or 95 accord ex engine you could probably get it for a few hundred...junkyard engines will run you from $500-1500 though.
are you changing engines for performance? or need to and are looking for just a little more? if it is performance...i would not even waste my time with another SOHC engine. you might pay $1100-1600 total for about 20 more horsepower....
you could save and spend between 3000-4000 and have an h22 which will give you about 70 more hp right away as well as be more responsive to modding it...
Im not sure yet if i want extreme power or if i just want an extra oomph, cuz after university ill get my self a real fire breathing dragon(cough*evo*cough) and then mod the c r a p out of it! But thanx for all the advice!! This site rocks cuz of you guys!
If you're looking for a F-series motor, you might as well try to aim for the best F-block motor: The F23A1 (150hp/152lb-ft and LEV) + the oldest that motor could be is a little under 5 years.
(Food for thought.)
