Hey guys, question. I've got H&R full coilovers, but i want more neutral handling (not as much understeer if possible). Ok, my car is just going to be street driven, no auto-x etc, so i really dont think i need to beefy of bar(s)? Ok, to the basics. I'm not sure if i have a front factory sway bar. Do all ex's have them? (mines a 95 coupe) Anyway, can i reduce understeer by just buying a rear sway bar (if so, how big) or do i need both? I know Suspension Techniques, Eibach, Progress make them for my model,,,is there any others? Any help/suggestions/info would be greatly appreciated!!!
Peace

yes your car comes with factory front sway bar.. i think most cars do in fact... otherwise it would be quite ghetto...
anyways.. neuspeed makes a r.swaybar for your car as well.. not too big not too small.. just perfect... :)

With the springs, you might be OK just dropping your front swaybar, actually.

The trick with swaybars is to balance the weight transfer front and rear. To avoid a long winded response, check out this thread from the autocross forum.

Spec pages say you have a 21 mm bar up front. A 19mm bar in the rear should match it nicely. You'll get a little oversteer, in some situations, but it will be rare, usually minor, and fairly managable assuming proper tire inflation. I would recommend going to a couple of autocrosses to work out the kinks in your driving, though. If you want your car to handle, you should learn to handle it.

If you want something safer, the 13mm anti-roll bar that came on the 92-95 EX Sedan might work very well for you and as opposed to making the car neutral, where it will occasionally oversteer, it will just make it understeer less. Has anyone had experience with the fitment of this part on the HB's?

Finally, a swaybar is a hunk of spring steel - quality won't vary much from manufacturer to manufacturer. The quality differences are all in the brackets and bushings. Suspension Techniques makes fine mounting hardware, so its a good, cheap way to go.

That link was quite informative.
You said something in there about factoring in the springrates to figure out what size antisway bars to purchase. I have no clue where to even begin finding the spring rates for my H&R's? I just want something that will help reduce understeer on the street. I HIGHLY doubt that i'll ever auto-x!
any suggestions?

I believe that the 95 EX's have a 22mm front bar. (Check somewhere, like your sticker if you have it.) You don't need the whole kit - I recommend with only minor reservations the Suspension Techniques 19mm rear for your application while retaining your front bar. Its really the scientist in me - I'd like to know more, but I get the distinct feeling you'll really be happy with it.

I do have to ask what your aversion to autocross is, though. Most car folks find that they're a great deal of fun.

RE:

yes, 95 EX does have 22mm front sway bar, so a 19mm rear will make the car pretty neutral.

Also if you are just getting the rear sway bar kits, you can also pick up sway bar bushing kit from energy suspension for your front 22mm sway bar. That should make your front feels a little tighter.

Ok, i honestly dont think there are any autocross events in my area, i could be wrong though. where can i check? (website) also, yes, my car is a fricken auto. I know it has some advantages, and i know auto-x is like 90% driver 10% car, but an auto just wouldnt cut it in autox right?
anyway, thanks for everyones help! Its very much appreciated!

RE:

Who say Automatix can't do good in AutoX!

I won almost every single race in my class last year, and the year b4. My time is very competitive. Manual tranny is faster, but that's only if you know, and can get the best out of that tranny, if you can't you are just as slow as automatic, sometimes even slower!

Our club car is a freaking piece of shit pinto automatic, but trust me, that thing will whip most of ppl in AutoX or speed-trial events!! It's because, the Pinto has "SLICK", and some very good suspension + a good driver!! That's all you need. Car does help only if the drive can drive the car to 100%!

err autox in an auto? good luck:p
Dude, like every post that i've seen from you hasnt been worth the space on the net. Its actually made me that much dumber after reading it. Sorry man, but its true.
anyway, i know auto's can be fast. My friend has a camaro z28 which can haul ass in the quarter. Its just that, i think for a honda auto, it'd be hard to stay in vtec throughout a race. eh?
