hey i have a 98 civic dx.... i'm trying to take off my door panel so i can change my side mirrors....

i've got all the screws out, all the pins have been popped out, but i don't know how to detatch the window control arm lever? every place i look seems to tell u how to take the door panel out of an ex with automatic windows.... so i dont know how this peace comes off....

thnx for the help

Here's what you need.

The window crank handles are held on with a U shaped pin. There is a special tool designed to take these off. If you cannot find one, you can do it with a hook pick. You need to slide the hook pick in between the window crank and the plastic spacer that sits on the door card. Slide the pick in so that it is parallel with the door, then twist it towards the window crank.

If you have a local audio installation shop, they should have one of these tools there, maybe you can borrow it.

hope this helps...let me know

I worked at a car audio shop for 6 years and have done this more times than I can count. What don't you understand about what I said. There is a U shaped pin that holds the window crank on. The tool is shown in the picture attached. Go to your local audio or alarm installation shop and ask to borrow it.

What you should have done was buy an EX or SI and then you would have power windows and they are easy to take off.

the clip behind the window handle will come off if you slide a flat head screw driver behind it and slide the clip off. if you can get a hold of a hook tool its cake but not too harsd with a screw driver either..i did auto glass for like 6 yrs so ive done it a million times if you have any questions email me........good luck....i have a clip remover but never use it because its just as easy with a hook tool or a screw driver:D

I've taken the pannels off my friends CRX, which has the same pin behind the handel. We couldn't figure it out so we went to the library and signed out a CRX manual type thing...and it showed us how. May want to try that.
It is hard to follow w/o a good picture.

hey guys..you forgot an easier route..no tools requires...get a shop rag or old tshirt and slide it down between the handle and the door,,it will usually grab the clip and take it out. good luck!

and don't pick on him for driving a DX that really lame.
