i took off my wheel to investigate a squealing on my right front brake and when i looked at the pad it looked like it was flush up on the rotor, this can't be right can it? any ideas on to what might be causing a metal on metal squealing sometimes while driving? thanks

My breaks squeal really loud. When I bought the car the Honda tech said they were probably just new and breaking in. Now they say the last owner just bought cheap breaks and that's problem.

So now I'm stuck for a while.

just sucks

I may go for that myself. I've been hearing a high-pitched squeal on my Civic when I brake, when I've got the pedal pressed in at a certain point, ever since a few months ago. My dad claims they're breaking in, but I doubt it. I bought the car used. I'll check on the brake pads tomorrow after work...

BRAKing UP?

A serious comment.
Buy you brake pads from Honda. I never realized how shitty brake pads from parts stores were until I worked for one. The right parts for your car are at your Honda parts counter. I just replaced mine about two days ago. I'd been fighting to get a good aftermarket pad for a few years. Sure Honda charges $50 bucks for the set. But they fit right. No noise. And they work great. Spend a few bucks extra to get the right parts.

yeah, that's what it is, my pads are realllly thin, gonna head up to pep boys today.

would have been a good excuse to get crossdrilled rotor up front while you were at it :D
