were all the 1.6 sohc del sols VTEC? The reason i ask is i talked to a guy last night that has a 1.6 sohc del sol motor in his hatch, and it didnt say VTEC on the valve cover, but i though all the 1.6 sohc were VTEC. It just said Honda and had an H. The spark plugs were at the front.

the 92-95 Si hatchbacks and EX coupes had the same d16z6 motor that came in the del Sol Si over those years. the 92-93 had all black valve covers that didnt say vtec. the 94-95 had an unpainted valve cover that says vtec on it. i know this because i used to have a 92 Si and my brother has a 95 EX.

Well i havent had too many encounters yet. Ive raced my brothers Accord a few times. We just finished putting a JDM H22A in it and changing it to a manual. Its like 195 or 200hp stock and he has I/H/E, Pulleys, Clutch, and LSD. He always jumps off the lines about a carlength ahead of me. Thats thing is torquey as shit, but once my lag lets up and i hear it spooling, i pass him. So im guessing i got to be a little over 200hp. So far its doing pretty good considering i makes like 85 to the wheels stock.

thats cool shit, i wish i had a fast car I mean, for what it is, its kinda "quick" but its not "fast". hehe and no torque either. I want to totally finish off my suspension first before i do any engine upgrades. Unless i see a good deal that i just cant pass up. so much time, so little money

some valve covers dont say vtec but you can tell if it has vtec by looking for the vtec selenoid

Alternatively, you can rev it up to ~4700rpm and listen to the VTEC... I've brought up this subject before about six months ago, but apparently, the 1993 del Sol Si (D16Z6) engines were the only del Sol VTEC motors not to sport the nice VTEC on the valve covers. Hope that helps...
