Can the tps be replaced by cutting off the rivets and tapping the holes and bolting on a new one. My friend would seriously not want to pay 450 bucks for a new throttle body. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

dont cut the screws they arent rivets. cut a notch in it to make it a flat head screw and turn it out.

Ok...that sounds simple enough....but do you have to set the resistance like you do on other replacement tps?

how do you know that you have a bad TPS, when you replace it, you have to recalibrate it with a volt meter. if not your car wont idle right

the reason that i know it is the tps is because we have checked everything else and it all points back to the tps.

Does anyone know what voltage your supposed to set the TPS at?

You can drill the heads off the flatened srews then the just come out and replace them with new ones

find a way to tap into the red wire(the middle one) without diconnecting the plug, turn one the ignition and the voltage should read .5v at close throttle and ~5v at wide open thottle. move the throttle plate slowly and the voltage should increase slowly, make sure there is no sudden jump in voltage.

if the voltage does not read .5v at close throttle, move the sensor back and forth to get the right voltage. full throttle does not have to be exact at 5v.
