I would like to hear from people who have Toda Cam Gears, Skunk2, or another brand and their experience with them. I am curious if the more expensive Toda gears will protect better against slippage compared to the Skunk2 that have 6 bolt to the Toda's 4. Little Help!

Personally I think that yeah the Toda Cam Gears are nice, and mostlikely a good choice. The only thing is I don't have that kind of money to spend on just cam gears, plus the Skunk2 Cam Gears are very nice, and seem to be just as good or better. Just because the Skunk2 Cam Gears have 6 nuts to tighten, and my thought is, more is better.

So if I cut out a chunk of metal and put 20 bolts on it you guys would all buy it?

What I am saying is that just because the skunk2 has more adjusting bolts doesn't mean it is better. You have to look deeper than that.

Yes, our cam gears are lightweight and has six bolts. Availible in 3 colors: blue, red, clear. More bolts are better because you have less chance of unwanted adjustment. If one happens to strip (which i doubt would happen on ours) then you still have 5 more bolts holding your setting. Less chance of slipping. Belt contact surface is hard annodized to prevent wear. Made from billet aluminum, then CNC machined, then laser etched. 24 degrees of adjustment.

I was pretty well set on the toda's before but I think unless I come across them at the real good price I will probably go with the Skunk2's. But if anyone else has some input let's hear it.

i have the spoon gears which are made by toda and are EXACTLY the same. they are excellent, there is no way the bolts could slip in my opinion, the screws are knurled to finger tighten while doing adjustments when the springs want to rotate the cam. they hold quite well just finger tightened. they fit perfect, i thought i would have to use a 3 jaw to pull them off but they slid off like butter. supplied with grade 10.9 center bolts and thick ass washers. better than a factory fit.
i like skunk2 products but not all of them, the cam gear timing marks do not represent anything, or they are way off. is it poor engineering? i dont know, its possible that the an error could have been made when checking with a degree wheel. this is my only experience with those gears though.

When we first came out with our cam gears we did have problems with the etching. However that was a long time ago and we have correted that problem. All timing gears that were marked wrong were exchanged for our corrected version. This hasnt been a problem for a long time...This was when we first came out with them.

On skunk2's website they dyno'ed just their cam gears and made 2.2 hp just with tuning.

I will see if I can find anything on the Toda gears.

I would like to know what is the best setting for a 99 civic si, but don't want to pay for a dyno. Do you know Skunk2Integra?

the best setting if you dont want to pay for dyno time is 0 degrees. EVERY engine is different and it is stupid to start adjusting timing on the cams without checking air fuel ratio and power delivery. That is how you blow up engines...
