I was wondering how fast the 5th gen lude will go before the fuel cut off point.....
(on 5th obviously)

I recently took mine to 143 mph @ 7200rpm , but at the point it pretty much ran out of torque/power...

i've taken my car way beyond that point on my speedo all the way to about 151 at around 7400rpm. of course by 135 or so it was jus creepin upwards. i think it still had a little bit left to go if i pushed it further, but i don't know. honda claims a top speed of 137mph. some magazines say 143, 140.

150 mph....I've taken mine all the way only once and damn was it crazy...It was a smooth ride though. Didn't feel the steering wheel shake or anything, just be careful if you do it...
yeah, the prelude's amazing at that speed for what the car is. it's not an all out sports car but it's remarkably smooth and in control the whole time. i would even go so far to say i feel more comfortable in my prelude at 150mph than i did when i went 150mph in my buddy's vette, which was vibrating, shaking a little and more wind noise than i expected from a corvette. just my opinion.

151 is crazy. must be hard to control with stering with the wind and all.

Its important to realize that aftermarket rims will skew the actual
reading of the speedometer.

to you guys who got 150mph+,
what mods do you have???

yeah im sick of these magazines saying like 130... they must do it in the worst places in america... or they weigh like 300 lbs! sheesh.... plus.. your tachs are wrong.. my vafc shows about 300 less than my real tach..s ometimes even more! so the top speed might be a lil higher that what you guys are gettting.. specially if you have exhuast, headers, and intake.

I've gotten mine up to 140 with the aid of Nitrous from top of 3rd to almost end of 5th...... But the result almost became a disaster!:(

I was running on a long stretch in a farm area 15 miles south of my house. The road has trees lined up along the stretch, but when theres a road/insertection, theres a opening, and i was not aware that the winds were at 40-50mph in that area, and i passed the opening and the wind rushed and pushed my rear into a fishtailing style, almost like result of the movie Gone in 60 secs when the guy landed the Shelby after jumping it over the cars.

I almost shitted in my pants!!!!!!! I had to stop really quick cause my hands were sweating and my heart was pounding out as far as my steering wheel! OMG what a ride!!:)

Just be careful toping out any ride!

Yea, I was actually planning on getting rid of the govenor as the first thing, then I realized something, it's going into a civic, and I plan on living for atleast 30+ more years. So I'm going to leave it :)

a stock 5th gen base actually top out at around 125-135, the magazine wasnt lying, for those that THINK you did 150, the meter is wrong :) ever wonder why when they test a car topspeed , they do it by radar,:) not the meter in your car? ;)
