I just thought of another one. Change your battery terminals to the terminals that require allen wrenches to get off. This will take a little more time to get off, leaving your alarm going off for a little while longer.
That's a great idea, I bet most thieves don't even carry allen keys.
The hood cable release is well worth the 5 minutes... I recently found my driver's side wheelwell fasteners gone completely, as if someone had tried to pull the cable... luckily I had already relocated it. That is the only attempt I have ever noticed on my car - and yes I am VERY lucky. *knocks on wood*
My friend's Integra was just broken into 2 months ago... they cut the alarm wires under the hood (scared me how easy it was) and tried to start the car but gave up because it had kill switches in it (it's all on a security camera). They ended up ripping off his ITR wing, and he ended up with $3k+ from insurance for the hatch/wing and a little scratch on the roof from prying at the door/window... so now he has a C/F hatch and $2k sitting around and I'm insanely jealous.
So in short, about 1-2 hours of time and $10 between my friend and I could very well have saved my engine/tranny and his entire car from being stolen.
