is there somthing wrong with my tranny, my clutch, or am i not doing it right,
well let me start off when i try to shift fast it doesn't even like to go from 1st into 2nd, it just sticks there sometimes in neutral, and when i down shift from like fourth to third, it also sticks in neutral while i'm trying to push it in gear, (and my clutch is in all the way), but when i rev the engine to like 4-5 grand it just pops in like nothing and every now and again it grinds alittle bit and goes in??? i don't know if it's my tranny, but i need to know help me figure this out y'guys
Do you have a short shifter? Ever since I installed my short shifter I have been having the same problems. I am going to put my stock one back in and see if that fixes it.
When my clutch went bad, gears stuck in 1st and 2nd. It was hard to pull in and put out of gear. Also, I couldn't downshift at all, I had to push like a motherfucker to get it in gear.
i'm thinking it's the clutch, cause the first owner, never raced the car, and it's basically a virgin, so i'm just thinkng it's an old clutch, cause the ar has 96K, and he prolly didn't change the cluth on it
i know what it is. i have a civic hatchback and i had the same problem. my dad, a mechanic , took the tranny apart and the syncros were shot to hell. if you have the resources, and someone who knows what they are doing with a honda tranny(not saying you dont have the know how) and pull the gears apart and check the distance between the syncro and the gear and make sure they are within limits. if that truely is the problem and it dosent get fixed, you will grind the gears to nothing, and replacement gears for hondas(all five) are not cheap. they are 2 to 3 hundred dollars each. also it would be very wise to replace the clutch. if you have all the parts, the repair should take a day to a day and a half. it took me and my dad 3 hours to do the whole jub but we had all the tools we would ever need less than 5 feet away from us.
ok, i'm having a similar problem, and i am convinced it's my driving, ever since i changed my cluch, it has'nt wanted to work for me.... but whenever anyone else drives it, it works just fine... have someone else (who knows how to drive) drive it and see what they say.
