I posted before that my 2nd syncro's is messed up. Today, I found out that the Gear Oil I used was to heavy (80W- something). According to a manual I'm suppose to use 5w-30 motor oil. They told my this is because the gear oil is way to thick and the syncro's dont work as well. Can somebody verify this by experience or can somebody verify on their manuals??? And if yes, how many quarts do I buy?? Should I use full synthetic oil? Thanx

i use Redline MT-90 which is like 75w90. there are two major parts in your tranny that you have to keep in mind, the synchros and the bearings. the bearings want less resistance and that requires a thinner oil, as for the synchros they want friction and thus having a thicker oil. if your having problems with your synchros then look for some heavier weight oil, if you want to preserve your bearings then go with light oil.

i got my MT-90 from Summit Racing for about $8 a quart

I use Mobil 1 synthetic in all my trans' (except LSD equipped), and the trans feels way better than with Honda MTF. I'm a honda oem parts nut, but when it comes to this, Mobil can't be beat. Oh, and honda oem oil filters are garbage too, because they're not really made by honda.
