What can be done to a F22 engine instead of getting a H22A swap because I think it's very expensive to swap the engine. Would it cost less just to tune the F22 engine and attach the bolt-on's? What can I do to improve the F22 engine, such as port and polished head, forged piston rods, cam gears, etc. Thanks

yeah check out gude, but it will cost more to get power out of the f22 then getting it out of the h22a, but it can be done slowly which is an advantage.

I agree; Gude is the way to go here:

It may cost more to build up the F22 (as opposed to swapping in an H22A), but you do have the luxury of doing the upgrades in stages (as your budget allows). NOTE: H22A motors don't run as cheap as B18C motors (exc. B18C5), so that kind of swap could get expensive.

thanks for all your threads. I am still not sure if I want to get started on fixing the engine on the car because after all, it's an auto tranny and for all the money I can spend on it, nothing will really help it go faster.

No. That's not entirely true; you'd just have to figure spending more money (than you may wish to) on the tranny (i.e.: Level 10 TC).

Yeah, its the same motor in the 4G Accord DX/LX/SE and should be usable in the 92-96 Prelude S.

It's probably least known motor in the 4G Prelude; most tuners have the H23A1 and H22A in mind when marketing performance parts for the Lude.

I don't know about you guys but I plan on blowing up my F22 with a turbo/nitrous setup. Then, replacing that with the H22A and trying it with that too. Of course I'll do it right with all the internals.

I like the H22A swap simply because it is a clean install with immediate HP improvement. The H22 is also a sturdier engine to race and force feed. If you got the $$$, get the H22.

Have you considered just selling your F22 and applying the money towards the H22A purchase? Damaging a perfectly good motor is pretty senseless.

I have thought about selling my engine but, with 135,000 miles on, who in their right mind would give me anything for it. The h22a, is certainly in the future :D Money is already set aside, just when I do it, I'm gonna do it one time the right way. Anyone know how much that Cam is though? Crower will regrind any stock cam for $80.00 maybe they will be comparable.

If you're almost at the point of purchasing the H22A, dont bother with modding your current motor with a perf camshaft. That's money better spent getting mods for the H22A.
