Haha..havent been to this side of SHO yet:D

Anyways, straight to the point...Im goin to the darkside(FI):)
I need to know the basics of things ie;

-what turbo should I consider with my setup?....Differences in t3/t4 or any other

-Fuel managment? What should I take into consideration? When boost is applied how should I go about with ignition timing?

-Whats a cheap setup...when compared to a moderate/all out setup?

-Intercoolers? BOV? Missing Link? What necessary hardware do I need inorder to achieve a reliable daily-driven turbo motor? I dont want to blow-up:dstar:

-Valvetrain...Crower FI cams? Already bought em, what tuning basics/tips should I keep in mind?

Thanks in advance...links to sites would also be helpful.

That site that Dug gave is the one I've been following. I've kind of modeled my custom kit after what that site says and I've spent about 2k so far. Of course I've gotten some really nice things. Including a brand new T3/T04E. The T3/T04E is a great maximum performance/weekend warrior turbo capable of boosting 20psi easily. For the money you're willing to spend you'll have a great set-up.

Are you going to build your bottom end? Forged pistons and rods right? If so just go JE 9:1 with Darton ductile iron sleeves and Eagle Rods. You know the usual for a strong bottom end.

Here's my opinion and I've been doing a lot of turbo application and some pretty specific turbo research in the past 5 months.
Most importantly, just get a Hondata 3b with at least 440cc injectors (for around 10psi). This will give you the best tuning capability and a sure fire way of protecting your engine. Going this route you'll avoid the FMU, Missing Link check valve, VAFC, and the question in the back of your mind...what if something goes wrong with _________?

Of course Hondata just announced their new line: s200 series which probably by the time you're ready to put your turbo on it will be available. Just go to hondata.com and read everything you can on everything they've listed on their site.

As far as a kit. RevHard stage 2 all the way. Drag Gen 3 if you must, but the RevHard manifold flows better for the B series. Get the RevHard kit (cause it'll save you time from getting each piece like I did), sell the things I mentioned above, and get your Hondata. Dyno the puppy after your engine break-in and push 18psi and you'll be hitting 400 whp.

There was a B20/VTEC turbo in the Dec. 2000 issue of SCC. He ran 12.5 psi and hit 362 whp, and 261 lb/ft.

Just get a Hondata for sure. I am.

well... are you lookig to buy a kit, go with a custom set up, any kind of nice engine management, building the engine any? how much are you planning on boosting? what engine do you have?
list a basic overall of what your planning on doing, i'm sure people with chime in with there opinions...
i was planning on buying the greddy kit bcuz i've heard good things bout it and people say u should only go t03/04 if ur not going to do every day driving bcuz it takes a while to spool.. someone was saying the small turbo with the greddy kit is good but i was planning on trying to run 10-12 psi after i upgrade my fuel system and build up my motor..

greddy might spool faster.. but for the money you spend on there kit, it's not worth it
what about all the bad things I hear about drag and rev hard.. not street legal.. cracking manifolds.. i can get the greddy kit for 1800 and then get anything else I'll need for 10 bucks over wholesale.. so that's not a big worry.. i just heard alot of bad things about drag and rev hard..
just go search around and do what you like. FI is nice.

Is cracking manifolds true? how long will it take until it cracks. hasn't happen to me yet.
I was thinking Jayman, if you used that site that Dug gave as a model for your own kit I think you'd be fine. If I had it to do over again and build my kit this is what I would do if I was in your shoes. Not including what you'll do to the block...

Get yourself:
-Hondata 3b, 4b, or the new s200 series with options of your choice and including boost
-At least 440cc injectors with the clips
-New or nearly unused FMIC
-RevHard manifold
-Tial or Turbonetics WG
-TurboXS Type H BOV or a GReddy Type S
-Oil lines
-Charge pipes
-Moroso Oil Pan
-Walbro 255lph intank fuel pump
-Lastly, a new turbo

For you since you want high hp and fast time slips a Garrett T3/T04E with Compressor specs .50 a/r, 50 trim T04E Turbine specs .82 a/r, 76 trim T31. With this turbo boost will onset at about 2500 rpm and will be at full boost by 3500-4500 rpm and good for at least 300+ hp. This turbo on a 1800-2200cc engine will be sweet. It won't be fast spooling, but it'll be sweet!

Spend a few hours on the dyno with your Hondata and have a well tuned engine that gets 30+ mpg, stock idle, and perfect tunning. :D

no matter what set-up you get, jayman, make sure you get Hondata 2b or above. Hondata = superb tuning results, which in turn equals much more reliability (no blown engine because of FI) and more power.
sweet, thanks guys...Im growing much respect for this forum and its people.

Thanks

J.
Well since u wanna spend between 35-4500 i thought might like this option.

Pick the parts u want Turbo Kit

This way u get all the parts u want and won't be stuck with the parts u don't want. Hope this helps.

for ur price range this is the best option that i've seen...swap some of the parts in the options and u got a pretty decent setup for ur range.
boosting is fun i'll never go back to NA!!!
love that BOV:D
Thanks for the praise guys! ;) I just got a beefier internet connection though and the URL has changed. It is now http://216.231.44.40/index.php?site=dsp_customTurboKit or you can visit us at www.ks-motorsports.com. We are currently working on an online store that will have everything from online shopping carts to credit card transactions, I'll keep you all posted... It's a massive undertaking! Good luck Jayman ;) Just PM me if the custom kit sounds like somethin up your alley

Once you put a Blow Off valve and an intercooler on that greddy kit, it ain't street legal anymore ;) In stock trim, it will be pretty weak... The Greddy kit is very limited in both parts and performance potential. Just find a setup that works with your goals. PM me if you have more questions
Is $3500-$4500 the max you want to spend on everything? If that's the case, then I would suggest you invest your money in nitrous oxide. You can pick up a nitrous kit, with ALL options, for around $1000. With the rest of the money, you can purchase ignition and fuel upgrades you will need, a tuning device, and maybe some light headwork.

When you are on a budget, strict or not, you ALWAYS have to consider your options. In short, you will blow the motor one day. It is going to happen. Will you have the money to take care of it when it does?

I've been through every scenario you can imagine, so my opinion, now, is that a turbocharged daily driver isn't the best option for someone on a budget. It can work, don't get me wrong, but you need to hear all sides of the equation.
