i am thinking about putting a Turbo kit in my car. But I don't want the turbo lagg.. i also don't want nitrous... do you think supercharging is better than turbo?
What's your goal in adding power?
What is your current setup?
A small turbo will have pretty minimal lag. Turbo lag should only be an issue if you're autocrossing or something similar. For street and drag use, it shouldn't be so big a deal if all you want is absolute speed.
The supercharger responds quicker but is not as efficient a way to do F/I.
Make a plan and execute - you can spend lots of money putzing around if you aren't careful.
I'm not convinced that a turbo is cheaper than a super charger, unless you can get a kit turbo.
I got a quote in australian dollars - $11,000 for a custom turbo, $8000 for a custom super charger.
Also, although SC is a less efficient way of generating power, you also get usable power down low. A lot more forgiving for caning it around tracks, rather than just straight line stuff. Screw type chargers are also getting very efficient these days. (both in terms of volumetric and adiabatic efficiency)
There are turbo and supercharger forums here at SHO please use them this is a N/A engine tech forum
