I have an automatic 2000 Civic EX. I don't want to spend the money for an engine and tranny swap or to buy a new car... but I still want my car to be atleast faster than a Civic Si. Should I go supercharge or turbocharge? Which one is more reliable and will give me the least problems in the long run? How much slower will my car be when compared to a manual turbocharged or supercharged Civic EX? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! automatic

If you're not into doing the Engine/Tranny swap, I'd go with the SC for the long run. Turbo if you don't plan on keeping the car a long time. I'm not kncking turbos, but too many people push them hard and ruin the engine.

this question had been asked 999999999999999999999999 times. do some research, look around, don't ask this question because you won't be a real answer most of the time anyway.

personally i'd go for a turbo because a superchager eats some hp just to run, since it runs off engine power, and wastes more gas (for us cheap asses). with a turbo if you don't want to get shitty mileage around town you just have to shift under 3, but a superchager is always running. also it's easier to tune a turbo for higher or lower boost, which is virtually impossible with a supercharger (other than getting a different sized pully). turbo is just more flexible and easier to work with.

I would not replace the new engine in your 2000 Civic EX. There's so much to experiment with. If you were to swap an engine, why buy the EX in the first place?

I'd go turbocharger but make sure you prep your engine right and new torque converter. Then reprogram ECU so it shifts at better points for power.

the jrsc is too small to make any real difference, plus it isn't going to do much on an automatic. i remember reading about a guy with an auto that put one on. he changed his tranny to a manual and dropped over half a second, maybe more. so i'd say go turbo, or like some of these guys said, just swap out the engine and tranny. if you do that, save up til you put a lot of miles on your car, then go witha b18b and turbo it.

greddy turbo 92-95ex kit...spools fast and good price...as for your tranny...go get a torque converter and possibly tranny rebuild....if you go with supercharger...should get extra dry 50shot NOS to make it fast as turbo. I say turbo..just dont abuse it too much...cause your tranny will go BOOM....as for engine swap....if you decide to spend infinite amount of money, then go for it..although 00' or newer engine is expensive as hell...but if you have set amount stick with turbo or supercharger...

How much $$?

Thanks for the info guys, but a couple more questions :D

How much is it for a torque converter?
Is it hard to install? How much for professional installation?
Do I need anything else to beef up my auto tranny?
