Rolls-Royce expects the U.S. to be the biggest market for a new $300,000 sedan that goes on sale in January, Bloomberg News reported.

The company expects the U.S. to generate 40 percent of sales for the first Rolls-Royce to be fully developed since the venerable British firm became a division of BMW.
The German automaker has built a new $85 million plant near Chichester, southern England, to manufacture 1,000 Rolls-Royce sedans a year. The cars will be assembled by a workforce of 350 people but their 12-cylinder engines and other parts will come from BMW's factories in Germany. Production begins in late November and the first cars will be delivered in January.

BMW took over Rolls-Royce from Volkswagen as part of an agreement reached in 1999 to split the Rolls-Royce and Bentley car brands. Volkswagen will produce Bentley cars and keep the factory in Crewe, England.
