the AEM E.M.S. is the only ecu replacement i can think of for our cars, and its not out yet. a few people have also used the UNICHIP and have had success with it. but the only reason you would really need either of these is if you have quite a few mods. you would also need to get them professionally tuned.

I'd be willing to put down some money that Unichip or other ECU tuning would provide some worthwhile gains on a stock AV6.
where?

Can either of you tell me where i can get a unichip?

yeah, im sure it would especially on a 98-99. but i was really thinking that since you would want to get it tuned after each new mod to get the full potential out of it, that it would be one of the last things to add to your car to spend the least amount of money on tuning it.

you can get em at special unichip dealers. i remember there was a list over on av6 but you'll have to wait until the site is back up unless someone on here remembers.
If I get the AEM ECU replacement(when it is available), how hard would it be to configure it? I don't know too much about tuning. Would there be some sort of guide or something?
I would get the Uni-CHip but in order to get it tuned right, I would have to take it to the racers group and everytime I get a new mod. That would be a BIG hassle.

BEST LEFT TO A QUALIFIED TUNER............................
yeah, if you get either one of em you will need to get it professionally tuned every new mod. thats why you leave it for last. you wont get the full potential out of your mods until you get it, but at least you wont waste a whole lot of money on tuning.
will ecu piggy backs(Unichip) or ecu replacement(AEM EMS) void engine warranties?

they can change the way the engine runs...
Oh hell yeah! But if you have the AEM EMS, you could always swap your stock ECU back before bring your ride to the dealers!

Why would it matter if the accord is a 98 or 99 ?
Arent the 2000 - Present the same engine/car with more airbags, newer bumpers, and different wheels?

98-99 AV6's have the older distributor ignition system. This is actually beneficial from a performance/tuning standpoint because you can manually adjust the ignition timing on these cars to take advantage of higher octane fuels (above 87) and further enhance your performance.

2000 and newer AV6's use DIS (distributorless ignition system) for which there is no current way to adjust timing. One less tuning option :( However, there will soon be available a version of the Unichip that will give you this option, as will the AEM EMS full ECU replacement (but at $1800).
Thanks a lot
