The USDM version looks very similar to the stock header from a GSR or LS motor. It is the big nasty cast piece, with all four runners going to a big cast iron 'blob' just before the downpipe.

The JDM version has all four runners separate from each other, down to the oil pan area.

Check out various web sites for pics, I think there is one on the jdmhondaparts site.

The JDM header is the superior piece. Much better than the USDM header. They both do the same work, expell exhaust gases, but one just does it better.

Can you elaborate on how does the JDM R have much better performance because as far as I knew (I could be wrong) things were pretty much the same except the hp, compression and maybe the gearing.
