which is better for a turbo app? of lets say 8-9 pounds of boost

non-vtec is better. vtec only works for n/a cars. vtec isn't a power adder. it simply broadens the power band on small motors who would generally lose power with a high lift/duration cam. vtec also involves vavle overlap which is also bad for boost. only benefit of a vtec motor is the head flow.
