Ok, my '95 GSR looks like it needs a new tranny. The engine has about 180,000mi with no rebuild. It will need one soon I guess 'cause it's starting to burn a lot of oil and smoke a lot under hard acceleration. If I didn't rebuild it, it would need a major (30,000 mi type) service. I don't do the work on my own anymore, cause I just don't have the time.
I've never had a car long enough for a rebuild of the engine or transmission, so what do you guys think of this deal?
It's a JDM B18C1 engine with about 40,000mi including transmission. The tranny is an LSD. Price would be about $2500-3000 installed.
I trust the mechanic well as he is the former lead mechanic for Jackson Racing. Has his own shop now. The engine was meant for his wifes car, but didn't get put in it for whatever reason. So I trust his source for the engine/tranny and his work.
