I figured this would be the best of the boards to post this question on. To start out I wanted to say Hey to everyone, I am a new member, but was an avid user about a year ago, so this is just my return. I have a 2000 GSR, and last saturday after having revved the motor to about 6000 RPM's I starting getting a very loud knock from the motor. It sounds to me as though its a bottom end problem, my guess would be a spun rod bearing, but Im not really sure. Well the car has 34,000 miles on it, so I took it to the dealership to get them to look at it, and they tell me they can not give me an answer to whether it will be covered under warrenty until they pull the motor out and look at all the parts for wear. This is 10 hours of shop labor, and if it is not under warrenty, then I will have to pay 750 dollars just for that labor. This puts me in a very hard position, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions, or similar experiences that may be able to help me. Sorry about the long thread, but thanks for the time, and Im glad to be back!

well first off do you have any mods on the car?
when you bought the car did you know if the owner fixed up the car or is a crazy redline driver?

if you dont have any mods or anything. and know for sure that the last owner took care of the car then you might want to call up honda of america. but before you do call honda of america you might want to go to a more desireable acura service department. and talk to the servicea dvisor manager. see what he will say. if he continues to insist that, then proceed to call honda/acura of america.

ps-if there was not mods and you know that the last owner took care of the car. then you have nothing to worry about. the service reps tend to scare people who tries to BS them by saying they have to pay for labor. even if they open up and find there is something wrong with it, they will have to prove/show that it was due to the drivers neglagence.

I am the only owner of the vehicle, and the only mods I have as far as the motor would be concerned are I/H/E. Well thanks for your comments, I am going to try and make some progress tomorrow, so I will be back tomorrow with an update...thanks again,

Well, I just thought I would let you guys know the good news, I found out today that they are covering it. It is about $2600 worth of work. They are replacing the rod, crank and all the rod bearings. It was initially a spun bearing that caused the damage to the other parts, but I hope to have it back in a few days! Thanks again for the help...
