After an oil change my car feels like its lacking power. It accelerates like its hard labor. Would not changing the oil filter make that big of a difference. I didn't change the oil filter cause I couldn't get it off, the filter head that I had must have blown up in size cause it was slipping off of the filter. Any Feedbacks,

IMO, I've never had that problem using made in USA filters this is the first time it happened and its a made in Canada filter.

What kind of oil did you use? How many miles has the filter been on?

Also how many miles do you have on the car? What mods do you have? It may be time for a tune up.

Well it is about time for your 30k tune up. That could be a reason why your car feels slightly weaker. I am about to get my car ready for its 30k mile tune up. You should look into it. Atleast get the valves adjusted.

30k...Hmm replace your NGK spark plugs, and I would run a bottle of complete fuel system cleaner to clean things up.

You may also want to look into a valve adj. Also have you changed you air filter?

Your best bet would be to go to your local dealership, and look into the 30k mile service.

About your oil filter....next time you put it on, lube the rubber gasket on the filter with just a tiny bit of motor oil. Also, you don't have to tighten it too much, a good thing I've heard is only tighten the oil filter as tight as your weak hand can tighten it. In other words, if you are right handed, tighten it with you left. And if you are left handed, tighten with your right. I've always done it this way and have never had problems with removing my filter. BTW.....I have never used any other filter than Mobil 1, I'm not sure but it shouldn't make a difference with ease of removal. Just try not to tighten it too much.

mattb16 hit it right on the head....sometimes, if you put more than 3 1/2 quarts of oil in, the crank will drag in the oil pan and cause the engine to run slugish. More than likely, that is your problem....one other thing to check is the plugs....they might not need replacing just yet...however take them out and inspect them and take some sandpaper or a sparkplug file and clean off the electrode.

Yes the manual does say 4.2 but anything over 3.5 will drag on the crank, i jsut recently purchased a b16a1 for my 4th gen hatch, my mechanic is a scca mechanic and racing is all he knows, he told me that with 3.5 Qts it will free up a little power, because less drag on the crank, he also told me to watch it closely if i do so. Also with the plug suggestion, might also want to check the gap while your at it. just the thoughts that came to my head

Thanks Matt, now that I've driven the car for approx. 30miles the Si power gradually returned. Finally, I can feel the B series power. Next oil change I will make sure that I don't pour more than 3.5
Peace
