What's the general order things would die on a 2001 GSR motor with boost? starting off at maybe 6 PSI to about 15 PSI. Would It be wise to get stronger rods? new clutch? How much power can the stock tranny safely use? Would like an idea of what order I should build up the engine before instaling a FI setup. Or after so I can increase the boost. Assuming that you make sure the fuel and ignition system is doing its job properly, here what SHOULD fail as you raise boost (simply a guideline):

For B series motors:
Ring lands fail and cylinder walls can crack around 14psi
Detonation around 12psi unless you use race fuel and proper A/F management
Head gasket can blow above 15psi

For D series motors:
No more than 6 to 7psi, the rods are weak.

Alright your clutch is garbage replace it NOW. then either ringlands or valves will go. I know guys running 20 lbs+ on stock gsr motors for a couple years. They are strong but tuning is the KEY. A/F ratio must be kept very good
