I am just a little curious:

I was wondering about the performance of Weapon-R's Dragon Filters... I know that they get eventually look really "dirty" but I was curious as to whether or not the filter actually makes good performance?

Any help is appreciated... thanks!

I would imagine that they wouldn't be any better than a K&N filter since the air would have to navigate through the orifices of the foam which seems like it would actually perform worse. Of course I'm just talking out of my ass on that one and using a bit of personal visualization...the only filters I've ever had are stainless steel filters....VERY nice 'filters'.

thaseint....you are wrong.....basically foam filters flow a whole lot more air, however they get dirty faster.

this is how a foam filter works...there are 2 layers to it and what the top layer does is filters the bigger particles of crap while the second layer has smaller pores to filter the smaller crap that gets through the bigger pores on the outer layer.....the airflow through a foam filter is a lot more to a K&N because a K&N is a Gauze filter element which creates more restriction due to the fact that there is only one thick layer rather then 2 thin ones and all of the dirt gets stuck on that 1 layer thus creating clogs in the airflow, what you have to realize is this....foam filters are not good for the street just as K&N filters suck ass on the dirt....the fact is foam filters do not filter the air as much as gauze filters do.

Ok, I see what you're saying... ok, for everyone out there, here is another question:

For all of those out there who know about the little tutorial on "Making your own AEM intake" (found on Team Del Sol ) the article uses 2 different filters for the prototype process... one filter is the actual AEM filter, and the other is a K&N filter... my question is, look at the following picture below. I believe that it's the K&N filter, but I have no clue as to why the filter is so "black." It looks like it has some sort of plastic black guard around the filter, and I would like that same exact filter set up. If any of you guys (especially any del sol guru's who know what article i am talking about) know anything about this specific filter set up (i.e. what it is, brand, where to buy), please let me know. I appreciate any help that I can get...

Thanks, but no thanks. I really like the looks of this filter, plus K&N is awesome! For some reason, the Ractive Filters look weird... I am very picky about my products... i guess I am anal retentive when it comes to this stuff... I like things that have style and performance... the ractive filter looks too showy, i guess... anyways, any more help is appreciated!

well you see the thing is this......nobody will even see the fucking filter if it is a cold air intake...........also.........why dont you e mail the person who did the write up on how to ghetto rig your own CAI and see what they say about what filter it is

I have no email to contact the person. I know you wouldn't be able to see the filter, but i know it would be there... I like style... but not to show off in front of others... call it personal taste or what not... nobody still has no clue to this question, eh? Damnit... oh well... I will keep trying...
