are you kidding, seriously

if you arent, its like a hypercharged headlight, but instead of a filament, it uses an ARC to light up the bulb. it uses less wattage, runs cooler, and has alot more output

HID stands for High Intensity Discharge and they're seen on all the newer, higher end vehicles like BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, etc. It's a gas charged bulb, with the principle similar to your household fluorescent light. That is why you can't buy a HID bulb and replace it with your stock halogen bulb. The HID unit comes with a ballast and HID bulb which work together. The result is a brighter, whiter light with a slightly blue tint to them.

Hope this helps.

Hehe, hey, don't be mean. I kind of wanted to laugh too, but I mean, if he really doesn't know what they are, that's what we're here for... to teach and help people, not to make fun of them for not knowing. I would hate it if people became afraid to ask questions. :)

HID lights are currently the best headlights available in cars today. (Better than halogens or conventional projectors.)

My Accord has superwhites that have WAY more intensity than the OEM bulbs. Well when I had my Accord in the shop, I rented a 3.2TL and I can remember the glow of the headlight intensity on my garage wall when I pulled in one night. After I got my Accord back, I pulled into my garage and thought 'Man!! No comparison!!'

HIDs are CERTAINLY on my list of future mods. Does anyone have any particular brands they'd like to recommend?

Me and a couple other friends have the Philips 4300K HID's, and we're very happy with it. I've left mine with just the Philips kit w/ no modifications to it, and it's very clear and bright... and the color is just pure white, with no color or anything to it. But I know some people are more into the purplish-bluish color, so what my bf did was get the Philips kit also, and he added some Belof (sp?) aqua caps... the color is amazing! :)
