I have a sohc motor that i am going to run 8 psi on this year. I need to get an FMU. I've been looking at vortech but don't know which rate to go with. 8:1 10:1 12:1 This is a daily driver with some occasional race. Do you have to be real fussy on which rate fmu you go with?? I plan on upgrading to rc 320's as well. Do you dare buy an fmu used and what is a reasonable price?? Do diaphrams and seals in them go bad or are these fairly maintenance free. THanks in advance

with stock injectors go with either a 12:1 or a 10:1 at the lowest.I have a set of 310cc injectors and i had to go down to a 6:1 diaphram.
As long as the fmu has not been opend or damaged (droped/cracked,etc) you should be just fine. You have to open it to change out the diaphram and some people are not a carefull as others so they may have accidently scratched the surfaces inside so it may not seal properly. If you have the option to inspect it before buying it then i would just find out if it's been opend and if it has then just pop it opn and check the surfaces fr gouges.Other then that you don't have to worry about the seal going bad or anything.
Once the fmu is calibrated it is totaly maintenance free.I have some spare diaphrams if you need to swap then i have 4:1,8:1,10:1,and 12:1 diaphrams.

10:1, 12:1, ARE YOU NUTS!!!!! Your base fuel pressure will be like 50psi or so. Then when booost comes on you will be at over 100psi!!! #1, thats way to much on the injectors, and more importantly you are going to need one hell of a fuel pump. I dont see you needing any more then a 4:1. I would get some larger injectors and keep the Fuel press. lower. I have a 4:1 complete unit sitting here used if you want it. Ill sell it pretty cheep. Its the Vortech FMU.
