Buying cams involves some homework....now the question you just gave is pretty broad. Different cams are designed to give you the differnt power at any given place throughout the powerband.

The agressiver the cam or profile...the more components are needed inorder to run it safely ie; valve springs,retainers(or so called "valvetrain")


Heres a good link you should check out...it shows you different setps with an aray of cams. Each has before and after dyno graphs...and comments on each setup.

deplitch the crower non-vtec cams are what you might be interested in. A considerable amount of power can be gained by these cams. Heres a dyno:
