What kind of Receiver for a 6th Gen

2004 Views 12 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  kleankord
Hey, what kind of receivers do u guys get for a 6th gen?? I have a 2002 AV6, and I don't want a single din size receiver. i want something that double din size. I mean, the kind that is the fat ones that will cover both the holes. I like the one illusion has, what is it???

and i love my 6cd in dash changer, is there something out there that's like that???

can someone recommend something good???

check out a crutchfield magazine-they got a sizing chart for most cars-or check on their website-imo go with alpine, clarion, or pioneer-they are the best quality receivers.
I have a single din... but sounddomain.com has good prices on double din.
or you can get two seperate..

you can get a cd headunit (single)
and get an EQ (single din)
for the eq i personally like the kenwood 9044
mine is a kenwood dpx-5010 so many bells and whistles it's not even funny, Should be able to pick it up on ebay or elsewhere for $550 and up. Alpine makes some nice double dins, there are some newer double dins than mine that have mp3 now.

here's mine the 5010 retail was $850 but it's last year model http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product/product.jsp?productTypeId=19&sortBy=price&productId=2348

here's the new version of mine the 6020 pricey retail is $950 http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product/product.jsp?productTypeId=19&sortBy=price&productId=2372

this is the newest version the 4030 with mp3 but not an many features retail is $450 I personally don't like this one http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product/product.jsp?productId=2469&productTypeId=19

I'm not a big fan of the double din units. I think they look big and clunky. Eclipse makes a 6 CD in dash unit that would work sweet. Or just get a EQ underneith if you want to fill the space.

what model??
The Kenwood posted by Illusion is one of the best Double-DINs I've seen, but can be costly.

Here's a couple more:

$299 @ crutchfield

$349 @ Crutchfield
