What the hell is wrong with this POS?!

sometimes that happens with mine. I just keep putting them in..taking them out... putting them in etc..most of the time it works. but sometimes they just won't play at all.

Could be the brand, my cd player is picky about which ones it will play. You said that other Memorex cds work fine, so maybe it just didn't burn right. I've done a few cds that just wouldn't work, in any cd player. Made another copy and they worked fine. I think it's one of those computer mysteries.
Do the cds work in a different player?

yea they all work in another player.. well not another car cd player but the portable ones n on the computer they work. i havent tested them on another car player.

What speed were they written at? Many cd players have a hard time reading CD-Rs that were burnt at high speeds....crank the speed down, and you should be ok.

top speed is 12.. but i burned at 8. is that a problem? burning at 8?

Shouldn't be if the others were same speed and work fine. Don't know what to tell you. I burn mine at 16 and have no problem with any players.

Maybe it has to do with mp3 vs. wav? Is that different from the other cds?

I was suggesting something along the lines of 1 or 2x speed...I know it's painfully slow, but the slower the better. Give it a shot and see what happens....it's worth a try at least.

It has to be either the speed or the brand of CD that you are using.

Some CD players are just finicky when it comes to CD-R/RW. The above are definitely worth a try (1x to 4x write speed).

mp3 and wav are computer formats. The raw format of an audio CD is AIFF (up to 70MB/song). The software used to write the disc will convert whatever format to AIFF on the fly UNLESS you make an ISO9660 disc which will store the files differently; causing problems on CD audio players.
