a d16y8 is a farely new engine seeing how its release was in 96. Any d-series tranny will work, but for best results use a d16y8 manual tranny. I believe the code is L3.

There are many different types on transmissions to go with. If you want an all motor car i would go with the D16z6 trans because of the shorter gear ratios but if you want to turbo in the near future go with the D16b7 or a CX trans beacause of the longer gear ratios. It is all in what you are trying to do withyour car. I would go to the nearest junk yards. Most ex trans go for 300-500$ and most DX,CX go for 200-400$

i heard the old del sol tranny with the sohc has the closest gear ratios, if i ever blow my tranny that's the one i'm gonna be looking for.
