this error occurs all the time when i'm browsing on IE and was wondering if anyone could help me?

an error box always pops up saying:

Explorer

This program has performed an illegal operation and all be shut down.

If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

Umm before you reinstall IE try this:

1. Go to control panels
2. Open "Add/Remove Programs"
3. Scroll down to Micrsoft Internet Explorer (whichever version you have)
4. And click it so it is highlighted
5. Then hit the "Add/Remove" button
6. A box should come up with three options
7. Click the option that says "Repair Internet Explorer"

Go through the whole reboot process and try browsing. It might take a while to figure out that the repair processed worked but it's worth a shot. If it doesn't work post back I might have a couple of ideas.

how do i reinstall the OS?
heh..well unless ur lucky like i am..and have a recover cd (which reinstalls the os without losing information) then you have to format the hard drive and use the installer cd for the os to install it

this of course is the last ditch effort here..cause u dont wanna lose all ur info..know what i mean

first thing, TURN OFF active desktop, it sux major...That will probably cure your problem. To turn it off, right click on desktop, mouse over active desktop, and click the "Show Web Content" to turn the check off beside it.

in most common cases..... windows 98 is like a car....
you gotta keep maintaining that shit...such as scan disk defrag and all that other bullshit...
but as it gets older its gonna have more problems eventually youll get tired of it and start new again...like buying new car...

but 98 is a unstable OS so i prefer you get xp cuz its more safer and stable and it has less problems... i have this norton anti virus installed and it does wonders....cuz it scans everything and anything on a daily basis and checks for bad shortcuts or files.....which are common to that "an error has occurd" phrase.

IMO go get yourself xp and save your heartaches with 98 cuz my friends still have that and der gettin your problems... ive had xp more than a year and i still havnt gotten anyproblems...

u must not use it then :p

2k pro is a good os...xp pro is the best OVERALL though

and there's nothing wrong with 98..u just have to know how to tweak it :D ;) i can leave 98 running for 5-7 days before it gets too slow to mess with..same with win2k pro..haven't had xp pro on any of my machines..but i know for a fact that xp pro is the best overall for stability and games
