I am looking at building up my LS to slap on a VTEC head this summer and was wondering if anyone knew a good place to buy Type-R pistons.

sohfast.com his prices may be a little high but everything he sells is in great shape. also importautosalvage.com they may sell some, even though they mainly do engine swaps
buy them at va motorsport

they have adds out in a few mags. but look at march 2002 import tuner page93 they have itr pistons with rings onsale for 210, the whole spring and retainer kit for 188, and the type r cams for529 a pair www.valenciaacura.com
Thanks.

I am just starting to round up parts and was wondering where everyone got their stuff. If anyone else knows of good places to buy parts for this conversion let me know.

Thanks again.
Hey VTECMISSLE, I saw that you have the Venom 400. Was it worth the 300 bucks they want for it?
deMad10 this will start the flaming

went to the dyno and did three runs and this may help dispell some of the myths. here is the setup. civic intake modded to fit integra gsr. k+n filter venom 400 b+m pressure reg. first raising fuelpressure actually caused more variation it the o2 than keeping it stable the ecu was controlling it back and forth. set to 48 psi got best results. second filter on and off only difference was .10 hp third venom 400 did give me a somoother graph on the wideband o2 sensor and 9.9 hp in the top end. this may have been a fluke but when turned off the car lost the 9.9 hp. raced my friends mustang 87 lx converted to cabubrated running edlebrock cams and intake 4.11 gears and it seemed to be the difference. also friends at gforce performance in Schrewsbury PA ran better 1/8 miles with it on than off. in the end the iceman probably helps the most now. and i didnt buy the aem because i felt that i needed more midrange on the high side and the iceman seems to have helped me pull harder in third. buy cams or nos if you want to use your money efficiently. most boltons for import cars arent worth the kind of money we pay for them in comparison for domestic parts.

Yeah I'm not going to spend any more money on my engine until I can check the compression. I think it is kind of low. The engine has 120,000 miles on it. I was thinking on building the block up with R pistons which would give me a little over 11:1 compression I believe. Then I could put a B16 or B18 head on there and get some respectable numbers out of it.

Either that or save up more for a H22 swap, possibly this summer.
what about jdmhondaparts.com ... they may be good...
Hey thanks for the info.
remember that one post that said inline four was a bunch of crooks? just if soneone had a bad experience with them, im not gonna take those chances... i havent heard of a complaint from jdmhondaparts.com though...
I posted another thread about this but since no one is responding to it I will ask you here.

What kind of gains would a LS with type R pistons make compared to a LS with stock pistons?

I am not sure about the CTR pistons because I don't want to end up with a CR that is too high. Check out the latest honda tuning and you know what I am talking about.
