I've found 3 intakes for my V6 Accord, APC, Matrix, and some unknown *brand* on ProCarParts.com...but I don't know if any (or all) are CARB legal in CA. I don't need my wife getting stopped by PoPo, getting a fix-it ticket and having to see the dreaded "Smog Reffere".

All the intakes I've found are just short-ram's, no CAI, so I'm guessing proformance isn't going to vary from brand to brand.

(I'll be putting a K&N filter on whatever intake I get anyways).

So, are there any CARB/smog-legal for V6's?

Thanks.

At the races in San Diego, sometimes cops will block in ALL the cars (literally hundreds of cars) and "inspect" each one by poping the hood. If anything looks "unstock, or disconnected" you'll get a ticket and have to visit an asshole called "smog refferee".

Or, if you get stoped, and you've got a nice looking "import", they'll have you pop the hood "just to check"...even going so far as to check the ground clearance, headlight height(22in is law), wheel camber, and if you have engine "bolt on's" he'll ask for the stickers (CARB EO#'s). Sometimes, they'll even ask for ITEMIZED RECIEPTS! for the parts that are on your car to PROVE TO THEM, that the parts arn't stolen...if you don't have them, they'll impound the car...........it's f'n stupid. They'll do it from everybody from asian thugs w/tats driving grey-primered '92 Civics w/ GSR motors, to 17yr olds driving '95 Legends, to 20yr old girls driving lowered Integras with an AEM intake(happened to an old girlfriend).

I was wondering if anybody had an intake that came with a CARB Exemption Order sticker for a '95 V6 Accord. Getting it smogged isn't the problem....it's getting pulled over and the cop telling me to go see the Smog Ref for a "questionable modification".

They're not "searching" the car. They're "looking" for possible Emmisions violations. It happens all the time.

Ever wonder why Nitrous companies came out with Automatic Bottle Openers? B/C it's legal to have nitrous hooked up on your car, but the bottle must be closed, and in a position in which the driver must exit the car to open or close it.

Cops in SD KNOW there are races EVERY WEEKEND, and they KNOW what to look for when they stop somebody. They "know" the smell of NOS, or even a hollowed cat in the exhaust, of the car they're chasing, and can tell if you've got an external wastegate on your turbo.

They'll fuck you anyway they can once they catch you.

That's why you should have your CARB stickers placed somewhere clearly visable under the hood, so when they ask you to pop the hood and see that AEM CAI, you can point to the CARB sticker before he starts to write up the violation.

Thats why you don't go to the street races....simple as that.....go to a REAL drag strip if you want to watch pairs of cars race....

what the hell is your wife doing at the races?? as for the stickers..u can scam em off of an aem intake or something, cuz nobody actually makes the stickers themselves.

weird tho, cops never check if my car is smog legal.....and my shiat use to be a cop magnet.....however, they'll give me a ton of fix it tickets. If u go to the races, go in someone elses car...i don't even take my car to the races anymore..no point in me doing so....but i will take it and floss it at a meeting (i.e. denny's or what not) and leave it somewhere safe.

u kno whats fucked up, even if u have a carb exempt sticker, and those popos, catch u at the races, he'll STILL send u to the referee cuz he can't tell if those exempt stickers or real. by the way, cops cannot search your engine or trunk without probable cause...he can however, look into your car, underneath your car, and check for illegal mods (ex. no cat, or a NOS bottle in your backseat)....so if a cop asks u to pop your hood, ask him for what cause..if he says for racing, ask for a sergeant....

as for the smell of nos, i never heard of that...u inhale NOS for racing, you'll die dude...and the only tell tale sign of nos is a puff of white smoke when in use..thatz it.

by the way, having nos, nitrous, or whatever, isn't illegal to have in your car..it is illegal to have nos in the lines or in the solenoid...if u get busted..u in deep doodoo....

if a cop sees the arming switch in your car...and asks u to switch it on...DO NOT DO IT......cuz then u are in trouble...
