I see alot of people on here refering to the d16y8 manifold as an upgrade, but is it an upgrade from the z6 intake manifold? It does look to have a bigger plenum but i'm curious if anybody has seen any gains from this swap.
the z6 runners are meant for alot of top end power. the y8 manifolds plenum is huge and it has shorter runs that are used for to make more low end power. the z6 head already flow great on top end so going with the y8 manifold can weild better low end gains. mixed with a hondata intake manifold gasket you will feel more low end power. i did it and loved it.

plus its great for boost.

Thanks, that was the type of answer i was looking for!
One more question, did you replace the IM studs for the hondata gasket? My friend tried putting one on his car but ended up having a leak cause the bolts stripped cause they were too short. He could have just overtightened them though not too sure, but he screws things up like that alot lol
no i didnt have to. i just tourqued them to spec and rode out. i felt the gain right away. i didnt feel any top end but i felt a good amount of low end. and the gasket has been dynod with an average of 2.6whp and 2.34 wt gains on a d16z. mix that with the large plenum and a b series 60mm throttlebody and it makes for a nice cheap modification to gain some decent power
