hey people..

ive been needing to adjust my valves for awhile wat are the specs for the dohc zc??

also the vavles are ticking quite loud...sometimes i get nervous cuz i cant even tell if its the valves or maybe i spun a rod bearing..but the ticking is coming from the valve cover.

since my valves are really loose..probably cuz its never had a valve job...am i messing up my motor by driving it like this??

lemme know.

Not sure if it will damage your engine to run it like that...but it's pretty cheep to get them adj. so do ahead and have it done...

valve clearances
inlet 0.13-0.17mm(0.005"-0.007")

exhaust 0.15-0.19mm(0.006"-0.008")

I think that's all you need...here's the site I pulled it from, it's got more on the valves but I think you just need the clearances. :)

ne one know the adjustments for a sohc zc or would it be the same as a d16a6? i know the d16a6 and sohc zc have different cams (with the sohc zc having a milder d16a6 cam). ive been meaning to get my valves adjusted.

hey guys after trying to put the #1 piston to tdc i found that my intake cam gear is off by one tooth...u have to turn the crank alil more for the lines to become parrallel with the head..but then my exhaust cam gear moves over some! so that means my intake cam gear jumped a tooth sometime.

dam no wonder my the motor boggs like a bitch when u floor it!!
is this slowing me down alot also?? if im thinking correctly the way the gam gear is its either advanced or retarded..

ill get a pic up asap so u guys can see it.

Sounds like someone did not set the timing correctly. Get the timing set first before you try to adjust the valves. Setting the valves is very easy, just time consuming. Just make sure you check them after tightening back up everything. The valves need adjusting every 15,000 miles, or when you start to hear that loud ticking again. My Integra D16A1 went twenty thousand miles before I had to adjust the valves. Man, what a difference it made once this was done.

If you had spunn a rod bearing you would hear a knocking which is very easy to hear especial at 3000 rpms. I would have your bearings done or do them your self it is worth it in my opinion. I didn't spin mine but i did piggyback the number 3 and the rest were worn out it destroyed my crank. bye bye ZC
