go b18b.. less start up cost.
check it
HASPORT
from what I understand of it there is an incompatibility difference obd0 vs obd1 so:
- if your buying a 90-91 b18a you need to replace the distributor with one from a 92-95 integra b18a or b18b.
- fuel injectors will need to be replaced with ones from the same models above, or 92-95 civic EX, SI, DX, or LX
- you might not be getting a deal on the linkage either, apparently for it to work with our civics it needs to be from a 94 or newer civic
-check the transmission, if its a b18a chances are its a cable actuated clutch, which will require a special kit to adapt it to hydraulic operation
Lucky us hasport makes a good swap combo kit, comes with a $450 price tag tho, but it gives you billet aluminum mounts all around, poly bushings, and the cable conversion mount if required. Nice, clean, no hunting down random mounts.
check out what year teg the drive train came out of, Id say if its 92-95 it would be worth it, especially if the axles are still usable on the b18a setup.
I personally snapped up a complete swap package from a 90 teg b18a and now feel a little bit hosed for not looking into it more and seeing what can be used/cant be used.
as far as what engine/trans is better...
The cable actuated transmissions have a much wider range of gear ratios than the hydraulic, but if your planning to swap it and leave it this means nothing to you.
The engines them selves (electrical aside) have the same power handling abilities, same strengths, same weaknesses (both being B series engines) so in that respect they are equals...
at least that’s what i have dug up in looking
