FIA Set to Warn Teams Over Ballast

The FIA are set to warn teams about the fitting of ballast blocks at the next World Motor Sport Council meeting in Paris next Wednesday.
The sport's governing body are set to act after several pieces of ballast fell off cars during the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.
The metal ballast blocks, weighing around four kilogrammes, fell onto the track after they became dislodged as cars drove over the kerbs at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Such incidents could prove extremely dangerous as the blocks become 'missiles' at high-speed.
The FIA's warning comes three years after they banned teams putting ballast in the planks that run under the floor of cars, following Rubens Barrichello's disqualification from the Spanish Grand Prix in 1999.
